Like ruler, like the ruled

I was ranting to a friend about the inefficiency of the British (3 weeks to go before liftoff and we haven't been told of our places of accomodation yet) and he commented on the fact that Malaysia, the colonialised country, has just about the same level of efficiency. We seem to have inherited some less savoury traits of our "adopted fathers". The title sounds better in Malay though - yang dijajah, seperti yang menjajah. Or is it really the other way round?
